Fireball-type transmitter outputs 1.6 watts with a 12v supply, drawing about 200mA from a 12v supply. Construction was a single-sided printed circuit board. Instead of etching the board, it was pre-drilled, then "carved" with sharp knives to isolate non-grounded areas. Doesn't take too long for simple circuits.
    An alternative base choke is shown below, with three turns of #30 wire-wrap wire threaded through the hole.
